Writing & Coaching a Bestseller
Author Accelerator certification student Sonja Meyrer’s new book And Then You Went Missing hit Bestseller status! She shares more about her experience, what it was like working with certified book coach Michelle Cox, and what’s next for her career.
How did you find out about the bestseller status? How did it feel to hear that?
I launched the book on Amazon on February 1st and achieved Bestseller status that day in one category as well as #1 New Release in 6 other categories. I watched the hourly updates throughout the day and was absolutely thrilled to see the results. Proud, humbled and grateful as well.
What did you do to celebrate this achievement?
Went on a beach vacation with my family.
Why would you recommend a book coach to get to this point in the writing journey?
My coach [Michelle Cox] helped me know how to begin thinking about the book writing process. I would have started writing right away without thinking about where I actually wanted to go. She also gave invaluable feedback in many areas on my submissions. She encouraged me to push through when I felt overwhelmed or like an imposter.
I appreciated my coach’s ability to gauge when I needed a little “push” and when I just needed encouragement.
I also found the [Blueprint for a Book] step-by-step process at the beginning so useful. Creating the Outcome Outline was hard work but invaluable.
Tell us one surprising thing about your book.
People have commented that when they read it, they feel like they are sitting next to an old friend or that they hear my words in their head during the day as they engage in other relationships.
What was one struggle you had in the writing or marketing of this book?
The marketing was tough. I struggle to try to "get" other people to support me or "convince" them to do something for me that might make them uncomfortable. Advertising on social media takes some getting used to!
What’s next for the book?
I will continue to send the book to leaders in my field in hopes they will find it a valuable tool for their clients. I also hope to continue speaking on talk shows/podcasts and wish to speak publicly in the future.
What are the next steps in your career?
Use the book to increase participation in my workshops and grow my own coaching practice.
