Helping Writers Heal
Today’s success story comes to us from Kamsin Kaneko, who just earned her Author Accelerator Book Coach Certification!
How did you come to book coaching?
I found Author Accelerator as a writer when I was needing help to complete a manuscript. I was also looking for ways to help other writers and was curious about becoming a book coach. So I wanted help with my book and I wanted to know what book coaching was like first-hand to find out if this was something I wanted to do too.
What was your experience in the Book Coach Certification program? What did you find most satisfying? What did you find most challenging?
I was immediately impressed with the depth and breadth of the information provided in the videos and accompanying lessons. It was so much fun to watch all the calls with Jennie's clients and read their work. The most challenging part was finding the right clients to work with for the Blueprint practicum. I had a couple of people pull out part way through the process. Then I spoke with 3 or 4 people who didn't know how to write at all or their idea was so vague. I spoke to two people who decided now wasn't the time to start working on a book due to other life commitments.
What did you do to celebrate your certification as a writing coach?
I'm celebrating by re-launching my website and a couple of new offers for aspiring authors which are coming soon. One is a free workbook called "Creative Courage" and the other will be a webinar, which I'm working on.
What are the next steps in your career? Tell us more about your coaching plans.
I'm going to continue to develop my coaching skills and I hope to publish the book I started working on a couple of years ago with Author Accelerator coaches sometime next year. I’m working to establish my own coaching practice and hope to work with a small number of private clients. I'm also working on my own writing and hope to create courses and materials to help writers and creatives with the inner journey of managing self-doubt and their own healing journey through writing.
