Making a Difference
Today’s success story comes to us from Author Accelerator certified book coach Jo Burr, who just launched her business!
Tell us about your experience creating your business.
My client is a published author and puts out a weekly newsletter. In less than a week of working with her, she posted the following as part of her weekly newsletter. To add to the wow factor, my client met Jennie Nash at a retreat in Austin. She was very impressed with Jennie, and so far it looks like she is impressed with me. Whew! I'm sure Jennie has little feet, but her shoes are very big to fill.
From the newsletter...
“MY WIP
Oh, the struggle I have had with Mary, (the Mother of Jesus) and her struggle to move beyond motherhood to discipleship. I keep thinking I've got it and then it eludes me again. But I am passionate about this. So I have hired a book coach of my own to help me. There is nothing quite like another pair of eyes on your work, someone interested and expecting you to submit it to deadline, to get you motivated. I am finally taking a leaf out of my own students' books and approaching my message in the way I tell them to - as a proper story.”
This is so encouraging for me!
What did you do to celebrate your achievement?
I did a happy dance and shared it with my family. I will be posting this to my Facebook page as well.
What has been the most satisfying part of the journey so far?
Knowing that my coaching has already made a big difference in an author’s work. Thinking that my coaching has helped my client make big leaps forward in only one session.
What has been the most challenging part of the journey so far? How did you overcome it?
Believing I have the authority and ability to coach an author that is already self and traditionally published.
I overcame this by remembering my training was fantastic. And being able to utilize the tools provided by Author Accelerator as a resource has been powerful.
What kind of writers will you serve and what services will you offer?
I serve authors of memoir, spiritual/religious, and YA fantasy. I meet authors where they are. I can take them from concept to full manuscript utilizing the Inside Outline and the Blueprint for a Book.
How do you plan to market your business?
Currently I have a Facebook Business page. I also have been spreading the word with my day to day people.
Do you have any advice for book coaches wanting to start their own business?
